Last night's Atlanta Graphic Design Collective Meetup was held at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA and was all about entering design competitions. This event is held each month and is sponsored by Sherra Bell of Creative Know-Who.
The panelists were:
John Allsopp - Style Master - Software developer, long standing web development speaker, writer, evangelist and self proclaimed expert, John has spent the last 15 years working with and developing for the web. As the head developer of the leading cross platform CSS development tool Style Master, and developer and publisher of renowned training courses and learning resources on CSS and standards based development, and author of the highly regarded "Dao of Web Design" He's been widely recognized as a leader in these fields who frequently judges interactive shows and speaks at conferences around Australia and the world. He is in Atlanta this week as co-founder of the Web Directions conference series which will come to Atlanta on September 21-25.
Scott Banks - BAD Studio - Scott’s career spans 27 years, including 19 years as principal designer of BAD Studio in Atlanta. Specializing in design for youth markets, pop-culture, cable and entertainment industries, he has designed packaging, branding and integrated campaigns for Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, CARE, Coca-Cola, DC Comics, Turner Classic Movies, National Geographic Channel, Comcast Sports New York, Kimberley Clarke and Golden Corral Restaurants. Scott holds degrees in both advertising and design from Michigan State University. He has served on the AIGA Atlanta Board of Directors.
In addition to receiving awards from Print, Communication Arts and the Addys, Scott’s work has been published in The New York Times Magazine, Print Magazine, Print Regional Design Annual, Creativity, How Magazine, Graphis, Utne Reader and numerous books.
