For most of us, Quickbooks is really overkill. That is why we started using Freshbooks. They provide all the online invoicing a small firm will need AND they even integrate with Basecamp. For small small shops they even have a free account option.

Jing has changed our lives. In seconds we can capture and annotate websites and then upload the screen capture to a hosted url. There really is nothing better than this.
Balsamiq - Wireframing and Prototyping - www.balsamiq.com
Balsamiq is a great way to work on wireframes and is really cool looking.
NeoOffice - Open Source MS Office replacement - www.neooffice.org
We use NeoOffice for producing wireframes and sitemap, but it also contains tools for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations. And it's FREE! You can also get Open Office, the PC version, here.
